NEW! For your convenience, new this year is the sale of pet licenses and dog park passes at the Ankeny HyVee Customer Service Counter!
The cost is $25 for residents and $35 for non-residents. A separate pass is required for each dog. A daily pass can be purchased for $5
Park passes are good until December 31. After which, a new pass will need to be purchased for the next year.
All resident season pass holders must also have their dogs licensed through the City. Pet licenses are required for all dogs and cats. The fee is $10.00 for each cat or dog. Add $1 per pet license if applying by mail. To purchase a pet license, simply bring a current rabies vaccination certificate for your cat or dog to City Hall, 410 W 1st St between 8:00am-5:00pm M-F.
Expenses needed to operate the dog park are being off-set by pass sales. The park is a financially self-sufficient operation. To date, The City of Ankeny and Ankeny Dog Park Task Force have worked cooperatively to raise over $125,000 for the park.
However, there is a need to continue fundraising for capital projects. Fundraising is occurring for our next phase of projects for the dog park. These projects include: installation of the dog park shelter, pond aerator, trail loop within the large dog area of the dog park, and landscaping.
Benches can be purchased for $850 as part of the City of Ankeny's Memorial & Tribute Program.
An exclusive sponsorship opportunity remains for the Dog Park shelter for interested parties.

HISTORY AND OVERVIEW
The Ankeny Dog Park officially opened on Friday, September 17, 2010. One of only a handful in the state, the dog park is 7.5 acres that will allow dogs of all sizes to run freely in an entirely fenced in area. The park features a half acre pond, separate small and large dog areas and open green space for your dog to run. Future amenities include a shelter and trail throughout the park.
The Ankeny Dog Park was funded through a public-private partnership between the City of Ankeny and the Ankeny Dog Park Task Force. The title sponsor of the Dog Park is Community State Bank.
