Ankeny Dog Park invites dogs and dog lovers to free Open House - June 9!

ANKENY, Iowa (May 30, 2012) - Dogs and dog lovers are invited to an Open House at the Ankeny Dog Park – Saturday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon.

The free event will give the public an opportunity to explore the 7.5-acre off-leash Park and its amenities, including separate large and small dog areas, a fenced pond, and drinking fountains for people and pooches. (Passes not required, but dogs must be socialized and current on vaccinations.)

New this year, the Animal Rescue League, Iowa Weimaraner Rescue, Hounds Haven Basset Rescue, Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue and AHeinz57 will be on hand with organization information and adoptable dogs to meet.

Additional activities include: Free hot dogs served by Hawgeyes BBQ; $10 nail trims by Pawsitively Pampered; answers to canine body language and dog park behavior questions by Canine Craze Performance Center trainers; photographers will also be taking pictures for a new 2013 Ankeny Dog Park calendar!

A limited supply of 2012 Dog Park passes will be available for purchase with proof of current rabies vaccination, city license and checks or cash in the exact amount.

Other Ankeny Dog Park events this year include Bark-N-Brew, June 23, and BarktoberFest, Oct. 13, at Chips Restaurant in Ankeny.

The Ankeny Dog Park opened in the fall of 2010, thanks to Title Sponsor Community State Bank and numerous community donors.
