Say goodbye at So Long Summer Smash event

ANKENY, Iowa (July 19, 2012) - Connect with neighbors and friends on Saturday, August 4 by attending the So Long Summer Smash, a day of free entertainment and fun that will be held at Hawkeye Park. As part of the festivities, the 5K Sunset Run will take runners through both Hawkeye Park, over to Prairie Ridge Sports Complex and back to Hawkeye Park.

This run is for athletes age ten and up and will start in Hawkeye Park at 7 p.m. Advance registration is $25 per person, which can be done online, by calling the Parks & Recreation office at 963-3570 or sending in an application via mail. Registration is also available on race day; however, the cost increases to $30 per person.

Live music and food
During and after the run, live music by Abby Normal will be happening in Hawkeye Park. The group has timeless rock songs and current hits that make the band a true crowd pleaser. This is a free event that runs from 6 to 9 p.m. No external food or drink will be admitted. Adults 21 and older will be given a wrist band after being ID’d.

Make plans to spend the evening of Saturday, August 4 at Hawkeye Park for the So Long Summer Smash and the 5K Sunset Run. Bring your own chair or blanket and help us bring Summer 2012 to a close.
