IOWA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTOR LAW
All contractors performing construction work must be registered with the Division of Labor.
The State of Iowa requires that "construction contractors" register with the Iowa Division of Labor and renew that registration annually.  Information is available online at www.iowaworkforce.org

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS LICENSE & REGISTRATION
Any person, firm or business engaged in the business of installation, alteration, repair, removal, maintenance of electrical equipment, including wiring, conductors, fittings, devices, appliances, fixtures and apparatus or parts thereof shall be a licensed electrician in complaince with the Electrician licensing requirements as established by the State of Iowa.  (HF897/Chpt 103) note:  Class "B" Master Electrician and Class "B" Journeyperson Electrical licenses shall be recognized as valid to perform work as Master Electricians or Journeyperson Electricians respectively, within the City of Ankeny.

Iowa Code 103.9 ELECTRICAL CONTRATOR LICENSE.  1. An applicant for an electrical contractor license shall either be or employ a licensed Class A or Class B master electrician, and be registered with the State of Iowa as a contractor pursuant to Chapter 91C.  2. A contractor who holds a Class B master electrician license shall be licensed subject to the restrictions of Section 103.10.

In 2008, the "Iowa Plumber and Mechanical Professional Licensing Act" created a Board responsible for the establishment of rules that require plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and hydronics professionals to obtain a license in order to work in the state of Iowa.
