Incorporated in 2007, the Ankeny Garden Association (AGA) is open to all Ankeny and Des Moines Metro residents interested in landscaping and city beautification. AGA volunteers help plant flowers and weed publicly owned flowerbeds, while receiving name recognition and the personal satisfaction of giving back to the community. Ankeny Parks & Recreation prepare all materials for planting. Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 p.m., at Kirkendall Public Library located at 1210 NW Prairie Ridge Drive. Meetings are free and open to the public.
Beyond outdoor volunteer opportunities, the AGA provides individuals the opportunity to Adopt-A-Flowerbed. Citizens who wish to help beautify and enhance Ankeny, with minimal time commitment, can adopt several existing and proposed flowerbed areas. A donation will help the AGA purchase planting materials and pay for the cost of watering.
