Mark Holm, 4108 SW 2nd Street, Ankeny, is serving his first term on the Ankeny City Council. As a council member, he serves on the Metro Waste Authority Board, Ankeny Sports Complex Foundation and Ankeny Uptown Association. Holm also volunteers at the New Horizon Adult Care Center, Ankeny Summerfest Committee and the Ankeny Service Center. Prior to Holm's election to the City Council, he served on the Ankeny Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Mark and his wife Kari (Vogt) have two sons. Kari is a surgical nurse at Methodist Hospital. Kari is a graduate of Ankeny High School, Iowa State University and Grandview College.

Holm was raised on a farm near Corydon, Iowa. He has a B.A. degree from Iowa State University, where he majored in political science. Holm works for the Iowa Department of Transportation as a Compliance Officer in the Office of Right of Way in Ames, Iowa. There he coordinates statewide right of way acquisition work and represents the State of Iowa at civil proceedings related to eminent domain.

Kerry Walter-Ashby
Kerry Walter-Ashby

Kerry Walter-Ashby, 1014 SW Springfield Dr., is serving her first term on the Ankeny City Council. Walter-Ashby grew up in Ankeny and returned over 9 years ago. As a council member, she serves on the Ankeny Community Education Advisory Council, the Metro Waste Authority Board (alternate), and the Metropolitan Advisory Council (alternate).

Kerry serves with the Ankeny Miracle League Field and All-Inclusive Playground Project, Ankeny BackPack Buddies weekend supplemental food program, Ankeny Alumni Association, Ankeny Community Foundation, Ankeny Dollars for Scholars, Ankeny Kiwanis Club, Ankeny Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club high school service group, Ankeny Leadership Institute, and Project Fresh Start.

She has taught at Iowa State, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and DMACC and has an undergraduate degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman University) in English and a Masters Degree from Iowa State University in English Literature. Walter-Ashby teaches fitness classes through Ankeny Community Education, the Ankeny Family YMCA, and the AFUMC Christian Life Center.

Kerry graduated from Ankeny High School in 1986, and her husband Todd Ashby graduated from Ankeny High School in 1987.

Bobbi Bentz
Bobbi Bentz

Bobbi Bentz, 821 SE Michael Drive, is serving her first term on the Ankeny City Council. Bentz grew up in Ankeny and moved to the community in 1980.

Bobbi and her husband Adam have two young daughters. Adam owns a small business, BAB Sports, Inc, and is the Defensive Coordinator for the Des Moines Blaze. Bobbi is an active volunteer and member of several non-profit, professional, and civic organizations in the greater Des Moines area.

Bentz graduated from Ankeny High School in 1997. She has an undergraduate degree from Cornell College in Economics and Business, two Masters' degrees from the University of Iowa in Health Administration and Public Health, and is completing her PhD from the University of Iowa in Community & Behavioral Health. Bentz works at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield as Business Partner in Network Engagement.

Wade Steenhoek
Wade Steenhoek

Wade Steenhoek, 3221 SW Woods Court, is serving his second term on the Ankeny City Council. Steenhoek has been a resident of Ankeny for over 13 years. As a council member, he serves on the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau (alternate) and the City-School Committee (alternate).

Wade and his wife Julie have two children; a senior at Ankeny High School and a son at Southview Middle School.

Steenhoek is the Entrepreneurship Program Director at Central College and owns several small businesses.

Steenhoek has an undergraduate degree from Simpson College in Marketing and a Masters Degree from Drake University in Adult Learning and Organizational Performance, with an emphasis in Leadership.

Jim McKenna
Jim McKenna

Jim McKenna, 517 NE 3rd Street, is serving his first term on the Ankeny City Council.

Jim has been an Ankeny resident for over 55 years. He is retired from the City of Ankeny utilities department after 39 years of public service, 36 of which as an administrator.

Jim currently possesses Iowa Grade IV Operator Certifications in water treatment operations, maintenance and water distribution systems and is a state-licensed swimming pool and spa operator. During his career, he served on various operator training committees promoting continuing education for operator's mandatory recertification renewals and career advancement.

Jim and his wife Suzy have two children, Matt (Tia), Mollie (Dan) Vallejo and four grandchildren, Malin, McKenna, DJ and Gracie.

Jim is a 1968 Ankeny High School graduate, Navy Vietnam War veteran and current property manager for Maplewood Village Condominium Association in Ankeny.
