Water is Pooling, Standing, and/or Draining Slowly in Yard
If water is pooling, standing and/or draining slowly in your yard, do not enter the water unless you can see the bottom and the water is not moving. If the water is moving, do not enter it. Look for obvious blockages in the normal drainage path, such as tree limbs, or an intake that may be blocked.
The City of Ankeny will investigate the public storm sewer and intakes and remove obstructions. If the problem is on private property and within a platted drainage easement, our only assistance may be to offer technical advice. Typically drainage problems are caused by poor grading of a property, but unfortunately are almost always the homeowners responsibility to resolve. |
